Emily Jean Roche wants to live in a world where her two daughters can eat straight from the garden and drink directly from the stream. Early in the morning, before the children are awake, you can find Emily writing while drinking a strong cup of coffee. She writes novel-length YA fantasy as well as flash fiction and poetry. Emily's short story “A Ghost of Herself” appeared in FLASH 500 anthology. She is a founding member of the Berea Writers Circle and a committee member for the Berea Book Fest. She performs spoken-word poetry and prose at community events, and has attended the Books-in-Progress Conference in Lexington as well other writing workshops around Kentucky. Emily lives in Berea, Kentucky with her husband, daughters, and backyard chickens. As an Elementary teacher, she shares her love of learning with her students.
